Did you know that the first day of spring is March 20th? Beautiful weather is fast approaching. Sunny skies and warm weather tempt us to ignore our to-do lists, so now is the perfect time to prepare for all the family get-togethers you plan to host.
Table and seating
A scratched and scarred table could be a sign that it’s time to rethink your dining space. Some basic questions to consider are:
- Do you have enough seating for all the people you’d like to invite?
- Is the style cohesive with the rest of your home?
- Does it fill your dining space properly? Too big and you have no walking path. Too small and the room looks barren.
- Are the chairs comfortable?
Dishes and Platters
Simple, elegant serving dishes can make all the difference in your tablescape. Take the time to check your place settings for chips, cracks, or dingy spots. You may need to refresh your dinnerware, or just add a few show stopping pieces, like the SOMMAR 2017 tray!
Vases and flowers
Nothing says spring like a vivid bouquet of flowers. Take a few minutes to consider which rooms in your home could benefit from pops of color.
It doesn’t matter whether the flowers are real or artificial. The bright splashes will draw the admiring glances of your guests.
Baskets & Eggs
Many of us plan to celebrate Easter on April 16th, which means we need to be prepared with baskets, eggs, and lots of goodies! Personally, I find plastic “grass” irritating. I find it under the furniture for weeks! This year I suggest revolting against the Easter basket grass, and instead opting for a smaller basket, filled to the brim. If you’re set on a larger basket, try filling the interior with flowers instead!
