Anyone who knows me knows that I have a tough time relaxing. For as long as I can remember, I've been plagued by anxiety and have to force myself to take a breather. Each week, I schedule relaxation time for myself – even if it’s a forced effort.
But when I do take time to myself, I immediately feel a release.
My stress level decreases, I’m less irritated, and a sense of overwhelming calm washes over me. Even if that calm only takes place for a few moments, it’s still present.
In celebration of National Relaxation Day (August 15th) and Lazy Day (August 10th), check out some of our favorite ways to unwind. We hope they’ll inspire you to take a moment out of your day to focus on you.
1. Lounge around
The best way to celebrate your Relaxation and Lazy days? Lounge around on your comfy couch or chaise! Lay down, take a quick cat nap, turn on your favorite movie or TV show, and truly relax.

3. Take a coffee break
Blend our last tip with this one! A cup of tea or coffee can bring ease to the mind, even with the impending caffeine rush. Combine it with your book reading time and you’ve got the perfect pair!
Try our UTZ certified coffee
Get up and out! Sometimes, even when you want to relax and be lazy, your body will be singing a different tune. Take a walk around your neighborhood, a local park, or favorite bookstore. You’ll feel relaxed and your step counter will be happy!
If I had a dollar for every time someone told me to breathe, I’d be rich. It’s funny how often we forget to do something that’s supposed to come to us naturally. Paying attention to your breath and staying present in the moment will help you relax – guaranteed. Sit down on your sofa or yoga mat, put on some music, light some candles, and count your breaths.
Happy Relaxation and Lazy Days!
